Distant Drummer is one of the finest Heavenly Twins catamarans available today. She was commissioned in 1994 and underwent an extensive upgrade and refit in 2007, the most significant part of which was the installation of a Beta Marine BD722 20HP 3 cylinder diesel engine mounted in the centre cockpit to twin Parker hydraulic motors making her fantastically manoeuvrable. This has kept weight out of the ends of the boat and created more interior space.

She is a Mark IV Heavenly Twins 27 and represents the culmination of Pat Patterson's cruising catamaran designs. The HT27 has a well known pedigree and is held in high regard by sailors looking for a safe, strong, seaworthy and easily handled catamaran whether coastal cruising or exploring shallow creeks. Ocean voyages and blue water cruising are all well within the remit of this superb mark.

We purchased Distant Drummer in 2015 in Rochefort, France from British owners. She was sailed to Falmouth in July 2015 and berthed in Pendennis Marina. We enjoyed coastal cruising along the beautiful Cornish coast to stunning locations such as Fowey and the Helford River. Her shallow draft gives her access to secluded creeks and guarantees peaceful anchorages wherever you go.

In 2018 we voyaged along the south coast of England calling in at various ports and anchorages including the impossibly beautiful River Yealm, Dartmouth and Portland's Olympic marina. We also dropped the hook off Brownsea Island and Newtown Creek on the Isle of Wight. We visited Chichester, Dover and crossed the Thames estuary arriving on the Essex salt marsh coast on the River Blackwater later that summer. Needless to say, Distant Drummer took the entire voyage in her stride keeping us safe and warm throughout.

We have maintained and improved Distant Drummer to a high standard. In 2019 we took the decision to instruct Tollesbury Marina yard to coppercoat her hulls to a professional standard ensuring a lower maintenance regime in the years ahead. With an eye on more stringent environmental considerations we have removed her holding tank and installed an odour free compost toilet. This has had the added benefit of increasing storage space in her forward starboard hull.

Distant Drummer is now sold. We would like to thank everyone for their interest and also say a big thank you to David Morris, our brilliant yacht broker.
